The course will present the finite element method (FEM) starting from its storical development and general impact in engineering.
It will then present the classes of problems which can be solved with it, presenting several examples, spanning from electric machines examples, to high frequency electromagnetics and thermal or civil engineering.
Part of the course is devoted to advanced techniques for speeding up computation.
