Electrical Engineering and Measurements Laboratory - LEM

The LEM - Laboratory of Electrical Engineering and Measurements is the hub of the University of Florence for researchers and students in:

  • IIET-01/A - Electrical Engineering
  • IMIS-01/B - Electric and Electronic Measurement
  • IIND-08/A - Power Electronic Converters, Electrical Machines and Drives
  • IIND-08/B - Electrical Power Systems

LEM was established in 2015 as part of the reorganization of the research laboratories of DINFO - Department of Information Engineering, in order to rationalize the resources of the University of Florence and is constituted by the union of the laboratories of Reliability, Safety and Quality (LabMAQ), Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMCLab), Electrical Measurements (LabME), Electrical Engineering (CIRLab), Power Electronic Circuits (PELab) and Electric Machines and Drives Lab (EMDLab).

LEM  is articulated in the following research topics:

  • Electrical Energy Engineering Laboratory (3ELab)  - Responsible Prof. F. Grasso
    • Circuit modelling
    • Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence for predictive diagnosis of electric and electronic devices and systems
    • Power quality
    • Smart Grid and Electrical Power Systems
    • Electricity management
    • Wireless Power Transfer

and in the teaching laboratory:

LEM is also founder member of the joint laboratories

and actively participates in achieving the objectives of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development making its knowledge available to all stakeholder.
